How To Feature A Video

How to feature a video so it will appear in the Featured Video section at the top on the front page of your Plumi website.

Plumi currently uses a very basic keyword system to feature items such as Videos, News and Events on the front page. We aim to change this system in the future however through the use of custom content item types.

All you have to do is edit the Properties tab of a Video item and add a keyword of "featured" to make it Featured Video. The Video is then added to the list of Featured Videos, and the last Video to be created will sit at the top of that list, and will be shown on the front page.

You will need to be a Manager of the website in order to add Featured Videos.

Step 1.

Login to the Plumi website

Step 2.

Navigate to the Video you wish to feature.

Eg.  http://www.yourwebsite.com/Members/videos/membername/Test-Video.mpg/view

Step 3.

Click the edit tab.

Step 4.

Enter the word "featured" into the box on the right-hand side of Tags on the second page.

Step 5.

Click Save.

Step 6.

Check the Featured Videos page to check that your video has been added to the list.

Eg.  http://www.yourwebsite.com/featured-videos

Step 7.

Check the front page of your Plumi site to check that your video now appears in the Featured Video section.

Note.

The Featured Videos page (eg.  http://www.yourwebsite.com/featured-videos) displays in order of date created. The most recently added Video that has a "featured" keyword will appear at the top of the list, and hence on the front page.

You may wish to remove the "featured" tag from all videos except the one you wish to feature on the front page in order to make sure you get the right video featured.
