If any help is needed, I can handle CSS and templating

comment:2 Changed 7 years ago by and

sure! I'll add anything else I find to the list here. There is a fuller list of things here http://plumi.org/query?status=new&status=reopened&group=component&component=Design&component=CSS&component=DesignCSS&order=priority Though some of that should be covered by some designers we work with though they aren't so quick these days so feel free to get in ahead of them.

I changed quite a lot of things on the homepage. It fixes the following issues :

# news and events header on index_html is no longer bold

# news and events text on index_html should be indented

It added (temporary) problems on "latestvideos" page, but it's only transitional as I'm working on it, right now.

The improvements look great, much cleaner. I had a look at quite a few pages and the only major issue i noticed was the flash player sitting in the middle of the page rather than the top right in video/view pages.

There is obviously a bunch of other improvements that could be made but as the idea is really to give people something to work off rather than produce a brilliant design I think it looking pretty good.

oh, and obviously this one is still an issue also

  • Add class .videoitemtop to "category" and location item in callouts template

comment:7 Changed 6 years ago by and

sorry, found something else. taxonomy listings are not right  http://testing.plumi.org/taxonomy/topic/art and neither are members video folders  http://testing.plumi.org/Members/andenator/videos

Sorry if i have pointed out something you were still working on.

I added the class .videoitemtop to callout template. The template is a bit messy, I'll put my hands in it as soon as possible.

You're totally right about the category listing. I'm still working on it since it's using a lot of ressource, actually, to get the category item, its name and its path. It's something i'd like to put in the catalog.

cool, it would be great to shift the categories with the .videoitemtop class to the top of the page also, I was thinking in terms of making fit in line with the video/view page. eg.  http://www.engagemedia.org/Members/pc/videos/extraction2-engage.avi/view

You can see how the categories etc. sit at the top of the page, should make it look rather nice :)

thanks.

  • The topics are now correcly displayed. Still needs a touch of CSS to make them look even better.
  • I started changing the video_view template. I'll redesign it a bit.

comment:11 Changed 6 years ago by trollfot

Actual changes :

  • The video view page is now redesigned, mostly
  • Added an image size for thumbnail, "presentation" (300x300)
  • Removed temporarly the listings (subjects, genres, topics). They are to be moved in a BrowserView?.
  • Globally changed the CSS on the video page.

Waiting for feedbacks.

I had a fairly free flowing conversation about this with trollfot in irc. We added the 3rd column to the page which I think improves things, especially as many people will come to a specific video page first rather than the front page so it's good if they can see this other content. It's a pretty quick thing to remove in anycase.

One thing, why 300x300 rather than 320x240 for the thumbnail image size? 4:3 seems to make more sense to me as a ratio for video related images.

Trollfot is adding some finishing touches to it tomorrow so will check in and give some feedback again later.

Could we make a summary of what's left to do ? The video page has been heavily modified (mostly structure and styles, not the content). I think we quite covered all the changes asked in this ticket.

From what I remember, the only thing remaining is to move "country" into the "taxonomy" listings

Hah... I'll take the ownership of this ticket, anyway :)

I think it's pretty close. Only things I can see are

After than I think this can be ticked off unless anyone sees any other issues?

comment:16 Changed 6 years ago by trollfot

Well. Let's summarize what happened here :

  1. Global design has been modified heavily, that brought new CSS classes and killed others;
  2. Video_view page has been totally modified;
  3. A new template has been created, taking care of all the video listing : video_listing_view.

What needs to be done

  1. Redesign the callout template;
  2. Make the video_listing_view the layout by default when needed and a view option in the other cases
  3. Close this ticket and open new ones for the specific tasks.
